Scrolls Discussion The Story of the Power Creep
Hellow Guys, I am Aylukard and this is my first post on this forum in hopes of preventing another tragic in the TCG/CCG world. Here is the story of the Power Creep:
There was a game that I use to love playing, it was YuGiOh. Some of you might have heard about it or the anime that it was based on. For a few years now, the company responsible for this TCG, Konami, have been feeding what the players of the game called the "Power Creep." The Power Creep is this trend where each new set of cards brought into the game gets more and more powerful; to a point where much of the cards before this new set of cards became useless in a truly competitive environment. As the players start to notice this trend, many has left the game because the game had become this tribal gang where if you want to win, you must play this set of cards; and of course, with demand, the prices went as high as almost 200 dollars for just one card. Much of the similarities are shared of another game called Magic: The Gathering.
Now, Scrolls doesn't have much similar attribute to YuGiOh or MtG, but as a player of this game like many others, I don't wish for the Power Creep to appear in this game. Although this game does not require real money to acquire a current card, being forced to play a current faction or deck is still very limiting to many players who would want to enjoy future competitive events. I personally have much faith in Mojang and the team currently developing Scrolls and I just want to remind the community to not push the developers into getting new cards out into the Beta. Yes, the cards can be changed and yes, they can be balanced, but why not just let the test server to test the cards? It is unfair for those who paid 1.9k gold to buy Naoidi just to have it nerf'd and be not used again.
Let this be a reminder to not feed the Power Creep.
