News and Announcements Patch 0.112 Testing Grounds
Patch 0.112 Testing Grounds
Good day my fellow Scrolldiers,
Happy days, the live server has been patched bringing with it all of the fun that could previously only be found on the test server. If you haven't been following our posts about what has been happening on there then here is a brief explanation of what this patch has brought to the game.
No more Quick Matches! No longer are you able to play a normal quick match, instead Quick Match has been replaced with Testing Grounds.
Here is where Mojang plan to test features that they want to introduce to scrolls, features that they want everyone to test first. At the moment Testing Grounds has new rules of Idols having 8 health and you are only allowed 60 seconds per turn.
There are also 4 new scrolls, these are the 4 scrolls that won the Scrolls Guide Design Competition so get them quick as they are brilliant.
Achievements are now also a thing, 85 of them are out there for you to get, good luck with that though as one of them is getting to rank 1 and pewq ain't going nowhere.
Everyone's favorite card Watcher has been nerfed to only dealing 2 damage instead of its previous 3 and the Hard AI decks have been given an overhaul with the introduction of 8 new decks (which I helped out with ).
Finally there is now rating decay, to explain more here is what Mans had to say on the matter on the Scrolls Dev Blog.
Hello,
I thought Id discuss the newly introduced rating decay. The actual decay is a bit involved, so lets start by going through what it means for the game:
Inactive players will get fall down the ladder. Hopefully this should lead to a more interesting competitive experience.
Players below 1500 who return from a break will climb the rankings a little more quickly. We think this is a great way to welcome them back to the game. Of course, theyll still need to win matches to climb the ladder.
Were preserving most of the tried and true principles of the Elo rating system.
As for the actual implementation, it works along the following principles:
Once a week, all ratings decay towards our base line (1500). The farther away you are, the more the rating will change.
Players above 1500 will have their rating value (RV) decreased.
Players below 1500 will have their rating value increased. But fret not! Their public rating wont go up; the coefficient used to calculate the public rating will go down at the same time. This means the rating you see will be roughly the same as it was before the decay.
If youre not familiar with the overall rating system, Ive written a previous description here.
Thats all for now. See you on the battlefield!
/Mns
Anyway I think that just about covers everything. Make sure as always to check out Mojang's post on the Subject and that you are following their Blog for instant updates on all things Scrolls.
All the best
