Scrolls Discussion The deal about combos....
I'm just curious if other people have the same. I'm a player that doesn't like to walk tradition routes, scourge the forums for premade decks and such.
Because of one reason, I try to be original. I don't want to play the same decks you see everywhere, like the current flooding of stinger decks (charge coils/state machines) which counts for about 85% of all the matches I encounter. My personnal opinion is that it's a bit too op.
But my main beef with the game is this. I played the game a lot, always been a fan of CTG on or offline. But the main deal I'm getting with the game is that it's nearly impossible to create a non standard deck which has any potential of becoming good.
I'm hard trying to figure out what it is with my decks. Adjusting them almost every week. Sure I got some standard decks, like my pc green deck. But they aren't fun to play imho.
But after countless battles I noticed that the decks that I have which are kinda run of the mill decks. They always preform very well, but since they're boring like **** I try to use cards that aren't used that much.
And I'm just curious does anyone else has this problem? You can play the game competive sure. BUt it seems to me that in a way the mechanics of the game give players who think more in terms of combos have a huuuuge disadvance.
I'm just wondering if someone else is getting frustrated by it. Whatever cool combo's you can think of, having a deck with NO combos at all would always be better. This because there are too many answers to it in the game. All the combos you make can be countered with one card most of the time. And most of the time you can do nothing about it. The only thing thusfar we have is that new green card.
Just ONE card in everything to protect decks which kinda work with combos. And I love combos, I love figuring out for myself how to use cards and what I can do with it. But the game doesn't reward original players.
I understand that I might sound like a whiner, but that's all because even with that I like the game. But I noticing for myself that I'm losing interest because of this issue.
And I'm not even sure that adding more cards to protect your combos would help.
I really tried everythin with my nonstandard decks, and I think they could be badass 2. But since it's so easy to disrupt anything with combos it's just not worth it.
So does anyone else got the same feeling as me? And I must say I find it really hard to think of any solution for it. But it's such a shame this could be a very entertaining game, but this makes me lose interest.
I think this is mostly because you can't react in any way to what the opponent does in his turn. The best idea I can think of is kinda magic-like with instants. But I really have a hard time of figuring out how this could be made doable in this game...
Just hoping to wake up some creative minds here so they can enhance the game so it gets better for all of us...
Cheers
